What Counts as a Plumbing Emergency?
Call right away if you have:
- A burst or leaking pipe, or water coming through a ceiling or wall
- Frozen pipes, or no water at the taps in freezing weather
- A water heater that is leaking or flooding
- Sewage backing up into a tub, shower, or floor drain
- A toilet or fixture overflowing and not stopping
- Water pooling around an appliance or fixture you can’t shut off
If you aren’t sure, call. We’d rather you check than wait and deal with water damage later.
What to Do Before We Arrive
A few minutes of prep can save a lot of damage.
- Shut off the water. Close the valve at the fixture first. If that doesn’t stop it, or you can’t find it, shut off the main water valve for the house.
- Turn off power near the water. If water is near outlets, appliances, or the electrical panel, shut off power to that area only if you can do it safely. If you’d have to stand in water to reach the panel, don’t. Stay out and call us.
- Open the faucets. Opening a faucet or two drains the line and takes pressure off.
- Move belongings out of the way. Furniture, rugs, and electronics near the water.
- Take photos. They help with an insurance claim.
- Call (203) 894-2533.
If you smell gas, leave the house and call 911 or your gas utility from outside. Don’t call us first.
Frozen and Burst Pipes in Connecticut
Connecticut winters are hard on pipes, especially in exterior walls, crawl spaces, garages, and unheated basements.
If your pipes are frozen:
- Keep the faucet open so water can flow as the pipe thaws.
- Warm the area with a hair dryer, or a space heater placed safely away from anything flammable. Never use an open flame.
- Shut off the main valve if you find a split pipe.
- Call us if the pipe won’t thaw or you see any cracks or leaks.
To help prevent frozen pipes:
- Let faucets drip on the coldest nights.
- Keep cabinet doors under sinks open.
- Disconnect and drain outdoor hoses and shut off exterior spigots.
- Keep the heat on, even if you’re away.
What Our Emergency Plumbing Service Covers
When we get to your home, the first job is to stop the water and limit the damage. Then we find the cause, explain what we found and what your options are before any repair work starts, and fix the problem. We handle:
- Burst and frozen pipe repair: stopping the leak, repairing or replacing the damaged section
- Leak detection and pipe repair: finding hidden leaks behind walls and floors
- Water heater emergencies: leaking tanks, no hot water, and failed units (see our water heater services)
- Toilet and fixture overflows: clogs, backups, and failed fixtures
- Sewer and drain backups
- Shut-off valve and supply line failures
Emergency Calls We’ve Handled Around Danbury
Every emergency looks a little different. These are real jobs from homes in our area, so you can see what the repair looked like once the water was off.
What Customers Say About Our Emergency Plumbing
Here’s what Danbury homeowners wrote after we showed up for a burst pipe, a leak, or a flooded room.
What We Repair and Replace
Emergency plumbing usually comes down to a handful of parts: supply lines, shut-off valves, water heaters, toilets and fixtures, and the piping behind your walls. We work on the equipment already in your home, and we tell you whether a repair makes sense or a replacement is the better call. Our plumbers also work alongside our HVAC and electrical teams, so a burst pipe that took out a circuit isn’t a second phone call.
Emergency Plumbing FAQs
Do you offer emergency plumbing in Danbury?
Yes. Call (203) 894-2533 and tell us what’s happening. We’ll get a plumber headed your way.
How fast can you get here?
We put active leaks and flooding first. We’ll give you an arrival window when you call.
Is there an extra charge for emergency or after-hours service?
Ask us when you call and we’ll tell you before we send a plumber. New customers can use our $100 off a first repair offer, which doesn’t apply if only a service or diagnostic fee is charged.
What should I do while I wait for the plumber?
Shut off the water at the fixture or the main valve, turn off power near any standing water if it’s safe, and move belongings out of the way.
My pipes froze. Can I thaw them myself?
Often, yes, with a hair dryer and an open faucet. Never use an open flame. If a pipe has split, or it won’t thaw, shut off the main valve and call us.
