How Service Stars Began and Grew
Service Stars was founded in October 2010 when the Johnson family combined earlier trade experience into one company. The business started in the family basement and garage, then moved to Pembroke Road in 2013 as operations grew. Along the way, the company expanded, adapted, and kept investing in the systems and people needed to serve homeowners well.
In 2018, plumbing returned to the company’s service lineup with the right experienced hire. In 2025, the team moved into its current Beaver Brook Road location after bringing operations back under one roof.
A Culture-First Company
Culture is one of the biggest things that sets Service Stars apart. Many long-time competitors have been acquired or are shifting toward private equity structures that can make service feel less personal. Service Stars continues to focus on a family atmosphere where camaraderie is real, not a slogan used for marketing.
We believe happy employees create happy customers. That is why our team emphasizes respect, initiative, discipline, humility, and a willingness to keep learning. Those values shape the customer experience every day.
Why Homeowners Trust Service Stars
Homeowners need more than technical skill. They need a company that communicates clearly, stands behind the work, and cares about the result. Service Stars backs service with a 100% satisfaction guarantee and a repair guarantee that gives families more peace of mind after the visit.
We also offer full-service convenience across HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. That means one trusted company can help with comfort, hot water, airflow, power, and more, all with the same standards for professionalism and accountability.
Service Stars combines HVAC, plumbing, and electrical help so homeowners can solve more comfort and safety issues with one local team. That full-service approach is a major advantage over companies that only handle one part of the job.
From routine tune-ups to late-night emergencies, our service technicians focus on clear communication, clean work, and lasting results. When you want a family-owned company that stands behind its work, Service Stars is ready to help.
Present Day
With 15 years in business and counting, we’re continuing to grow and refine our team, ensuring that quality shines through in everything we do! We’re excited to see how our company grows as we deliver our services to more homeowners in the upcoming years.

The Main Street Office
Our shop could only hold so many of us as the team grew. After many renovations, we found a new home downtown at 345 Main St, Danbury, CT for our client care reps & marketing team to operate from! Our service & installation technicians continue to operate from our Pembroke Shop location.

Rebranding
Our man in the star logo was feeling a bit dated for the modern times & what the company had become. Over a decade, what started as a tiny family business has grown into a skilled team of individuals who make the Service Stars experience an amazing one inside & out. Thanks to the talented team at KickCharge Creative, new life was breathed into the look & feel of Service Stars!

COVID-19 & Lockdown
The global pandemic disrupted peoples’ lives & businesses on an unprecedented scale. Our business was no exception to this uneasy period. With the mandatory lockdown in Connecticut, social distancing, and other enforced procedures to prevent the spread of the virus, we had to adapt tremendously to keep the business going.

Plumbing Services Restored!
It wasn’t an easy decision to suspend our plumbing services in 2015; it felt like taking a step backward. However, in 2018 we found an excellent opportunity to add an experienced plumber to our staff. With this addition, we were able to offer plumbing services again, revamping our Club Membership to accommodate a whole-home service plan.

Plumbing Services Suspended...
As a company, we struggled to find a solution to our plumbing needs. We had more plumbing demands coming in, but we failed to find a reliable plumber. In 2015, we decided to notify all current customers that we suspended all plumbing work until we found a plumber that could deliver the same level of service as our other departments.

The Pembroke Shop
Until this time, Service Stars was operating out of the family’s home basement/garage. We moved into our current location at 48 Pembroke Rd, Danbury, CT in the spring of 2013. It was a big step for us but was necessary to continue to grow. To this day, it is the current center of operations for our technicians!

Service Stars Incorporated
Jeremy decided to branch out of the new construction side of the family-run business and founded a residential electrical service company called Power Up Electric! As the company grew, Darryl joined the Power Up team to help out the family business.

M. Johnson Electrical
Where it all started. Not Service Stars exactly, but rather the influence of the trades on the Johnson brothers. Their parents, Marty & Janet Johnson, ran the family business. With all the brothers graduating from Henry Abbott Technical School in Danbury, CT, they all went into the trades to kick off their careers.

Our Values & Principles
The Standards We Live By
Show Up
Be reliable. Be ready. Be prepared. Not halfway.
Be reliable. Be ready. Be prepared. Not halfway. Not making everyone chase you. It means you’re on time, in uniform, tools ready, head in the game, and ready to serve the customer and the team. Showing up is more than walking through the door. It’s showing up with the right attitude. Customers count on us. Your teammates count on you. When one person doesn’t show up the right way, everyone else pays for it. Around here, we show up like pros.
Take Action
Don’t walk past problems. See it. Own it. Fix it. Communicate it.
Don’t walk past problems. See it. Own it. Fix it. Communicate it. Nobody here needs a professional excuse-maker. We need people who move. We need people who solve. We need people who actually care. If the customer has an issue, take action. If the job is missing something, take action. If something is going sideways, take action before it turns into a bigger mess. Average people wait to be told. Stars take action.
All In
You’re committed. Not perfect. Not mistake-free. But committed.
You’re committed. Not perfect. Not mistake-free. But committed. It means you care about the customer, the work, the team, and getting better. Halfway doesn’t work here. You’re either bought in or you’re not. We can train skills. We can coach mistakes. We can help people improve. But we cannot force someone to care. ‘All In’ means you care and you act like it.
Raise the Standards
Good enough is not good enough. Average is everywhere.
Good enough is not good enough. Average is everywhere. Sloppy installs. Bad communication. Dirty work. Half-baked paperwork. Weak follow-up. That is not us. We are not here to be the cheapest. We are here to be the company that does it right. The company that customers trust. The company that stands behind the work. The company that makes people say, “Wow, these guys are different.” If we see the standard slipping, we raise it. That is how we win.
Stronger Together
No department wins alone. Service, install, sales, dispatch, office, plumbing, HVAC, electrical — we are one team.
No department wins alone. Service, install, sales, dispatch, office, plumbing, HVAC, electrical — we are one team. The customer does not care whose fault it is. They see one name: Service Stars. So we don’t throw each other under the bus. We communicate. We help. We fix it. We win together. Strong teams don’t waste time pointing fingers. Strong teams solve the problem together.
